SOVKINO

Sovkino brengt film tot in de huiskamer. Met dit laagdrempelig initiatief willen we mensen aansporen om samen in huiselijke kring filmervaringen te delen. Het principe is eenvoudig:

  • Iedere 3e donderdag van de maand vindt een filmvoorstelling plaats bij een gastheer/vrouw naar keuze;
  • Steeds keuze uit 3 filmtitels. er wordt de avond zelf beslist welke film er wordt bekeken;
  • Breng je eigen drankje mee, de gastheer/vrouw zorgt in ruil voor een (mini)hapje;

Kynodontas
Griekenland, 2009, Giorgios Lanthimos
94min.

Three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate that could very well be on another planet. The trio spend their days listening to endless homemade tapes that teach them a whole new vocabulary. Any word that comes from beyond their family abode is instantly assigned a new meaning. Hence ‘the sea’ refers to a large armchair and ‘zombies’ are little yellow flowers. Having invented a brother whom they claim to have ostracized for his disobedience, the über-controlling parents terrorize their offspring into submission. The father is the only family member who can leave the manicured lawns of their self-inflicted exile, earning their keep by managing a nearby factory, while the only outsider allowed on the premises is his colleague Christina, who is paid to relieve the son of his male urges. Tired of these dutiful acts of carnality, Christina disturbs the domestic balance

Times are tough in a Chicago real-estate office; the salesmen (Shelley Levene, Ricky Roma, Dave Moss, and George Aaronow) are given a strong incentive by Blake to succeed in a sales contest. The prizes? First prize is a Cadillac El Dorado, second prize is a set of steak knives, third prize is the sack! There is no room for losers in this dramatically masculine world; only “closers” will get the good sales leads. There is a lot of pressure to succeed, so a robbery is committed which has unforeseen consequences for all the characters. A story for everyone who works for a living.
